Sign language is a language that uses the visual-manual modality to communicate or convey a message. This language mainly employs signs made using hand gestures or facial expressions and is used widely by the deaf or mute people to communicate with the others. This language is a natural language with its own lexicon and grammar and tends to differ between countries and states. This Level 1 Certificate in American Sign Language course will focus on the sign language used by the Americans and will delve into all the fundamentals of it to start expressing using it.
This training course is complacent with engaging content that will enlighten you on the importance of the sign language within a community. The alphabets and letters unique to this language will also be presented beautifully through this course to systematically guide you from the very basics, after which you will move onto the more intermediate areas such as fingerspelling and describing everyday objects.
The course comprises of videos, PDFs and documents that will train you on how to express family members, animals, weathers, climates, time, interests and hobbies, which will go a long way in helping you progress in your career or to establish a career related to the dead or mute community. The course has also done a wonderful job in delving into the food and beverage vocabulary to help you hold a more meaningful and expressive communication.
The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. This means that Global Edulink has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 1 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

In order to complete the Level 1 Certificate in American Sign Language successfully, all students are required to complete a series of assignments. The completed assignments must be submitted via the online portal. Your instructor will review and evaluate your work and provide your feedback based on how well you have completed your assignments.
Please Note: Additionally, £89 (Inc. VAT) is charged for assessment and certificate and you need to pay that when you are submitting your assessments only (It is not required to pay initially when you are registering). This payment can be paid into 01 installments when you are submitting your assessments.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
