Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) is the independent regulator responsible for overseeing qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. Its role is to maintain confidence in the qualifications system by ensuring that regulated qualifications are developed, assessed, and awarded to appropriate standards.

Ofqual regulates recognised awarding organisations and monitors whether they meet the required regulatory conditions. This helps ensure that qualifications are reliable, consistent, fair, and provide a meaningful measure of learners’ knowledge, skills and achievements.

An Ofqual-regulated qualification is a qualification that is awarded by an awarding organisation officially recognised and regulated by Ofqual. This provides learners, employers and education providers with assurance that the qualification operates within a recognised quality and regulatory framework. 

The CMI Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership (RQF) is assessed through centre-devised, assignment-based assessments. There are no formal internal or external examinations. Assessment activities are designed to meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each selected unit.

• Assessment Requirements: Learners must provide evidence that meets the knowledge, understanding, and application requirements specified in the unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
• Assessment Activities: Depending on the unit, assessments may include written assignments, reports, case studies, work-based evidence, reflective accounts, presentations, planning documents, guides, and factsheets.
• Grading and Completion: CMI qualifications are assessed on a Pass/Refer basis. Learners achieve the qualification when their submitted evidence meets the required assessment criteria and is confirmed through the applicable quality assurance and moderation process.
