The Diploma in Chemical Handling – Level 4 will teach learners on chemical handling in everyday life. A chemical refers to a form of matter that has a constant chemical composition and characteristic properties. Chemicals cannot be separated into components physically and exist in solids, liquids, gases or plasma forms. Though we may not realise it, hundreds of chemicals are used daily either in combined forms or as some reagents. Household items such as soaps, detergents, toothpaste, salt, sugar and bleaching powder are all chemicals. Most of the natural changes that occur in the world are also due to some chemical reaction. It is also responsible for providing heat and power, telecommunications and media.
It is true that chemicals have become a huge part of our day to day lives. However, along with the benefits they also tend to have some drawbacks that have to be considered while handling chemicals. Certain chemicals adversely affect the environment and the organisms. Improper usage of chemicals have also resulted in irrevocable damages. Therefore, it is important for whoever is handling chemicals to follow certain safety procedures.
