Diploma in Modern Disinfection at QLS Level 4

Overview

The Diploma in Modern Disinfection at QLS Level 4 course will educate individuals on modern disinfection methods in water treatment works. The process refers to adding chlorine in order to achieve clean water distribution by killing certain bacteria and microbes present. The purpose of water disinfection is to prevent waterborne diseases spread namely cholera, dysentery and typhoid. Modern disinfection methods can inactivate most microbes and it is highly effective in killing viruses and bacteria present in water. The course will also introduce learners to the safe drinking water act.

Chlorination is widely used in water disinfection. It was used a century ago and is still considered a modern method today.  

The Diploma in Modern Disinfection at QLS Level 4 will give learners a comprehensive understanding of chlorine, halogens and iodine. Learn about the basics and history of chlorine, and the byproducts of chlorination. The course will feature key topics such as disinfection essentials, byproducts of disinfections, oxidation chemistry, oxidation agents, chlorine exposure limits, chlorination equipment requirements and chlorine health hazards.
