Guide to Safe Vehicle Operations
The Banksman course provides essential training on the risks associated with vehicle reversing and manoeuvring, emphasising the pivotal role of a banksman in preventing accidents. It highlights the importance of effective communication, safety procedures, and risk management to create a safer working environment. This course explores the three main categories of reversing accidents including injuries to pedestrians, damage to workplace infrastructure, and damage to public property. It also addresses other common vehicle-related incidents and how to prevent them.
You will gain insight into the role of management in minimising reversing accidents through risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The Banskman course also covers the legal responsibilities surrounding banksmen’s activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The training provides a complete understanding of a banksman’s responsibilities on-site including safety procedures, communication protocols, and hazard control measures. It also highlights the roles and responsibilities of drivers, focusing on working between banksmen and vehicle operators to ensure smooth and safe manoeuvres.
Additionally, this course examines vehicle safety checks and industry-standard hand and verbal signalling techniques, equipping you with the necessary skills to guide vehicles in any work environment, while asserting all manoeuvres are carried out with maximum safety and efficiency.
